Hello Reader,
I’ve talked a lot recently about my journey to Substack and my deep craving for a more authentic, human-centered relationship with how I show up online. It’s about writing and connecting for the love of it, not just to please an algorithm.
Which naturally led me to revisit a crucial element for any business, your brand.
But what is it really? Is it just your logo, your color palette, or the design of your website?
Does it only matter for big companies — like Nike, Apple, or Airbnb?
Or is it foundational for growing your business, no matter its size, especially in our AI content saturated world?
The Race to the Algorithmic Bottom
The sheer number of AI tools bombarding us can feel overwhelming. It seems everywhere you turn, the voices shout:
"Have you checked out this new AI tool?"
"If you don’t incorporate AI right now, you will be left behind!"
And what's the end result if everyone jumps on the same bandwagon, using the same tools in the same way? You risk sounding just like everyone else. The AI race, if not approached thoughtfully, can quickly become a race to the bottom, where genuine distinction is lost in a sea of sameness.
But what if standing out, truly connecting, is less about the tools you use and more about the humanity you bring to what you create?
I explored this question — specifically how brands build connections by tapping into human emotions, not just fleeting tech trends — in a recent Substack article. I also share a simple, yet powerful, exercise to help you root your brand in a single emotion.
Substack is a great community but why not extend that to Google?! This practical article, 'Getting Your Substack Indexed on Google Search', walks you through the essential steps to get your Substack content indexed and found by a wider audience.
On a more personal note, what if you're afraid to be powerful because the first time you felt power, it hurt you? 'The Hidden Cost of Rejecting Your Power' is a deep, personal exploration of why we choose to be small and powerless rather than stand in our own power and sovereignty.
Tooltips📷
Writing — Do you dream of taking a vacation just to write? No distractions, just you and your pen and paper (uhh, I mean laptop 😊). If that's not possible right now, then try Typora, a truly minimal writing app that allows you to focus on, well, your writing!
Community — This looks SO good and I'm excited to be setting this up soon for a new client. The best-looking community, courses, and coaching plugin for WordPress. Check out Fluent Community.
It's been a challenging month for me and my family, as we recently said goodbye to my beautiful niece, Alivia. She was tragically and suddenly taken from us at the tender age of 29. Alivia, the only person I had the privilege of witnessing come into this world.
Grief has a way of opening doors within us, sometimes to places we’ve long kept closed. And her passing has inspired me to write more personally.
I’m currently working on a piece titled "Alivia's Ring," which will weave together her life and her place within our family's story, exploring themes of love, loss, and the threads that connect us. This is a deeply personal piece that I'll be sharing on my Substack once it feels truly ready.
It perhaps goes without saying, but it's a truth that bears repeating, especially now: love those you love, and let them know (truly and often) how much they mean to you.
Until next month,
Yael

Hello Reader, Will the hand-crafted website, built with human hands and filled with human words to solve profound human challenges, become a relic of the past? I’ve tried to be slow and strategic in my use of AI, to hold fast to my humanness — my heart, my passion, my values. It’s a journey I know many of you are on...
Hello Reader, It's okay to break. I did recently. In a doctor's office, in front of my mother, a doctor, and a nurse, I came completely undone. Years of caretaking, loss, and the weight of the world just cracked me wide open. And like Humpty Dumpty, I knew that all the king's horses and all the king's men couldn't put me back together again. At least, not the way I was before. For a while, I had no energy or vision for work or even life. I wondered if it was time to just quit, retire, and...

Hello Reader, A recent client conversation reminded me of a truth too many business owners overlook — a website can’t fix a business that struggles to get in front of the right people. One of the questions I ask during my discovery calls is, why now? Why are you looking to invest in your website right now? The answer...
