Hey Reader ,

Did you watch the Olympics? I confess, I didn't, but I did read an article recently about one of the ads.

The ad campaign told the stories of Ukrainian athletes, each of whom had to put their Olympic dreams on hold to fight in their country’s ongoing war with Russia. But here’s the heartbreaking twist—each athlete was killed in the war and will never compete again. The ad’s “narrator” was an AI-generated deep fake, and the visuals AI generated.

What the article talked about, though, wasn't the tragedy itself, but how the ad's spectacular visuals overshadowed the call to action at the end.

This is a classic example of what is called the The Vampire Effect. The campaign's goal, to raise money, was eclipsed by the mesmerizing AI-generated visuals; very few people even noticed the call to action at the end.

So what happens when everything is universally spectacular?

Where everyone can create content as captivating as an Avengers movie or write with the seasoned expertise of a 50-year veteran copywriter, all from a laptop and with very little past experience required.

You don't have to imagine anymore; that is what AI is bringing and it's coming fast!

And my guess is, in a world saturated with spectacular, we will crave the small, the handcrafted, the human, even more.

A genuine emotion, a raw and honest story, a connection to something real — is what will truly captivate us, not the flawless AI creations.

So, I encourage you to think about how you can stand out in your messaging and marketing not by being louder, but by being more you.

Because cutting through the noise isn’t about being the most spectacular; it’s about being real, relevant, and resonant.

Hello Reader, It’s been a quiet season for me these last four months. After my last Pixel Wise email in September, I stepped back — partly to rest, and partly to listen for what wants to come next in my work and online presence. Hello Reader, I'm writing to you today not just as a client, but as a partner in this wild journey of building a business with soul. Over the past few months, I've been quietly undertaking the very same process that we went through together.
