Hello Reader,

Have you ever put off something because it just felt too big?

I recently took on a project for a scientific non-profit forum in the US — a 501(c)(3) — which forced me to tackle something I've been avoiding:

website accessibility.

Most of my clients aren’t legally required to do this, so it was easy for me to keep telling myself I’d get to it “later.”

And it wasn’t that I didn’t care — I did. I just kept putting it off.

This project didn’t let me postpone it.

And I’m genuinely grateful, because here’s what I realized:

A website is an invitation. And accessibility is what makes sure the door is open to everyone.

Even if we’re not legally required to have accessible websites, we have an ethical obligation.

Imagine someone lands on your site — someone curious, hopeful, ready to get support, ready to book, ready to learn — and they can’t.

  • They can’t read the text easily.
  • They can’t navigate with a keyboard.
  • They can’t understand the structure because headings are out of order.
They can’t fill out the form.
  • They can’t access the thing you worked so hard to create.

That moment — that frustration and disappointment — doesn’t align with what most of us are trying to build. Especially if you’re a service-based business owner who leads with heart.

Accessibility can feel like a lot, but it's really just part of making your online home easier to enter — for more people.

It’s not about doing everything at once. It’s about caring.

Pixel Wise reflection

If someone who needed a more accessible experience landed on your website today — would they be able to move through it with ease?

If you’re not sure, you’re not alone. Most people aren’t.

I Finally Went Down the Website Accessibility Rabbit Hole

I’ll write more about this soon — not in a “here’s a universal checklist” way, but in a way that helps you see what matters and what depends on how your site is built

With love and warmth,
Yael

Hello Reader, It’s been a quiet season for me these last four months. After my last Pixel Wise email in September, I stepped back — partly to rest, and partly to listen for what wants to come next in my work and online presence. A Guitar, My Mom, and Comfort Interestingly, one of the clearest insights...

Hello Reader, I'm writing to you today not just as a client, but as a partner in this wild journey of building a business with soul. Over the past few months, I've been quietly undertaking the very same process that we went through together. I finally took my own advice and invested the time to get my own messaging crystal clear, to align every word and every page on my website with the work I truly believe in. It was a deep dive into the very depths of my soul, and I’m so happy with the...
